California’s First Tribal Female General Manager Appointed At Rancheria

The casino gender landscape is changing in California now that the Rancheria Resort and Casino has appointed Elizabeth Anderson Nix as their new general manager.

Nix is a member of the Robinson Rancheria Band of Pomo Indians. She is the tribe’s first female general manager. Nix told the media that she was extremely honored and humbled to accept the role.

Elizabeth Nix entered the casino industry in 1993 when she began her career as a blackjack dealer. For the last 30 years, she has been a noteworthy tribal leader in the gaming industry. In 2015, after a short stint working for other properties, Nix returned to the Rancheria Resort and Casino as the director of table games 2015.

In 2018, Nix was promoted to director of gaming operations before later being named general manager. When it was announced that she would be stepping into the general manager role, Rancheria Resort and Casino stated that her knowledge and table game experience allowed the resort to maintain its dominant position as Lake County’s premier casino.

One of Nix’s first orders as the general manager was to create a smoking room for bingo players. The smoking room is only about 10% of the gaming space at the Rancheria Resort and is popular among smokers and non-smokers as they can breathe fresh air.

How Many Casinos Are In California?

In California, only Indian casinos are permitted to accept bets. Currently, 76 resort casinos in the state are owned by 73 different tribes.

Domestic California casinos offer slots and popular table games, including blackjack, to players over the age of 21. Sports betting has been proposed but has been in legal limbo over the past few years as lawmakers figure out how to regulate the industry.

Is Online Casino Legal In California?

Yes, online CA casinos are legal, as there are no state or federal laws that prevent citizens from playing online. While brick-and-mortar casinos are not allowed to offer online casino games, out-of-state sites have been available for players since the early 1990s.

Today, many CA players are locked into their online casino accounts due to the excessive perks associated with the industry. One of the most popular reasons to get into online casino games is the bonus rewards. Digital asset acceptance is also another reason CA players like to wager online. While bitcoin casinos are fresh out of the gate, CA players like the anonymity associated with Bitcoin and other popular altcoins.
